We may review and update this policy from time to time to take account of new laws, technology, changes to our operations, and the changing business environment. Updates will be published on our website.

HOW WE COLLECT AND USE PERSONAL INFORMATION

We may collect your personal information during your interactions with us, whether online, including through our website and social media sites, or offline or that we receive from third parties.

BUSINESS COLLECTIONS

We may collect personal information during our usual business activities such as:

  • when interviewing you if you are interested in our services
  • client engagements if you want to buy or sell a business
  • interactions with suppliers
  • responding to general business enquiries
  • recruitment activities
  • when you access our website (see more below) or complete an online form

  • subscribe to our mailing lists
  • resolving queries or complaints.

We also collect personal information from third parties, including public databases, social media sites such as LinkedIn, business partners with whom we offer co-branded services or engage in joint marketing activities and third parties that provide list enhancement or similar services.

What personal information do we collect?

The information is generally only contact information (name, address, email address and telephone number) collected directly from you or someone you have permitted to provide it to us.  We will also collect your business information which may be able to identify you.  We may collect information about professional memberships and qualifications if it is relevant to your listing or information memorandum.

The information is collected when you send it to us, speak with or email us, if you interact with us in another way (e.g. give us your business card, attend a briefing) or you use or complete a form on our website.

If the information is provided for recruitment purposes, we might collect more detailed information about you that is relevant for assessing your suitability for a position with us including your employment history, academic qualifications and so on.

You can choose not to provide personal information when requested but this may mean we are unable to work with you, respond or interact with you or, in the case of recruitment, to consider an application.

For what purposes do we use this personal information?

We only use the information provided for the purposes for which it was collected unless you have consented to us using, or would reasonably expect us to use, the information for a different purpose or as permitted by law.  We will only use your personal information for our business activities.  For example, we may use the information to verify your identity, consider a potential engagement with you or your organisation, for recruitment purposes, to respond to feedback, queries or complaints or for general administration such as billing, to update our records.

We may also use your personal information for direct marketing purposes and to email you information that we believe may interest you, but we will not do so if you tell us not to.  We will provide an unsubscribe facility and you can opt out of these communications at any time.  To opt out, contact us here.

With whom do we share information?

We may share your personal information (for the purposes set out in this policy or related purposes) with:

  • our business partners, contractors, joint venture partners
  • prospective buyers or sellers (and their advisors) to achieve your objectives – we will only share your personal information after a confidentiality agreement has been entered into by the interested party and in consultation with you
  • service providers who need to access this information to provide us with specific services or facilitate transactions on our behalf including payment systems operators (for example, merchants receiving credit card payments and rewards program managers)
  • recruiters and referees
  • our professional advisers, including our accountants, auditors and lawyers
  • any person in connection with a joint venture, merger, sale of company assets, consolidation or restructuring, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by or to another company
  • government and regulatory authorities and other organisations, as required or authorised by law
  • others where you have consented or as you would reasonably expect for the above (or related) purposes and only otherwise disclosed as required by law.

The above may involve the disclosure of your personal information to an overseas recipient.  It is impracticable for us to specify the countries where the recipients may be located in this policy.

For all users outside the European Economic Area

By using our services or providing your personal data to us, you expressly consent to the processing of your personal data by us or on our behalf. You still have the right to ask us not to process your data in certain ways, and if you do so, we will respect your wishes. Sometimes Lloyds may need to transfer your personal data between countries to enable us to supply the services you've requested. By dealing with us, you are giving your consent to this overseas use, transfer and disclosure of your personal data outside your country of residence for our ordinary business purposes. This may occur because our information technology storage facilities and servers are located outside your country of residence.
